Giorgia Marullo

Giorgia Marullo graduated from the Polytechnic University of Turin, Italy, with a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Graphic and Multimedia curricula, in 2021, and earned a PhD in Management, Production, and Design in 2025.

Her work covers several research domains, including healthcare and sports, with an emphasis on human behavior analysis for the development of user-centered solutions based on deep learning. She further developed her expertise in deep learning during a research visit at the Heudiasyc Laboratory, a joint research unit of the Université de Technologie de Compiègne (UTC, Alliance Sorbonne Université) and the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), from November 2024 to March 2025.

She is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Management and Production Engineering of the Polytechnic University of Turin. Her research focuses on deep learning solutions for the analysis of medical images for diagnostic purposes and on human movement analysis through automatic tracking of skeletal keypoints for rehabilitation and technical gesture assessment, with a focus on Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI).
